Music & Beans offers Londoners a unique haven where the rich aroma of exceptional coffee harmonizes with the soul-stirring sounds of live music. This vibrant coffee house invites patrons to savor delicious brews and even explore their musical talents in a dedicated soundproof space.

A Symphony of Branding for Music & Beans

Our approach to branding Music & Beans focused on capturing the essence of their dual offering – exceptional coffee and captivating live music. We aimed to create a visual identity that is both timeless and meaningful, reflecting the unique atmosphere and community spirit of the coffee house.

Two offerings in one room is a branding problem before it is a design one. This cafe brand identity had to carry exceptional coffee and live music without either becoming the decoration of the other, so MarkaWorks built the system timeless rather than themed: a music led identity would date with the genre, and a coffee led one would hide the stage. The dedicated soundproof space is part of the offer, and we treated it as such.

The Client: A Unique Coffee & Music Experience

Music & Beans is a coffee shop based in London. The concept of this coffee house is unique as you can enjoy your coffee and live music at the same time. You can also play any instrument you want in a special soundproof room.

The Solution: Logo, Logotype, and Colour Palette

We decided to create a meaningful icon instead of a simple ampersand to connect the coffee and music in the logo design. As for the logotype, we chose a sans serif font with capital letters only, as it gives a classic feel and a timeless look.

Colour Palette: Evoking Musicality and Contrast

To build an association with music, we decided to go with black and white as the main colours to remind people of the keys of a piano. At the same time, we included peach, beige, and blue shades of colour for some contrast combinations to be made in future.

Branded Merchandise: Cups, Bags, and Aprons

We also created the coffee and cold drinks cups, as well as the takeaway bags, aprons, and special musician edition coffee cups. The aprons and coffee cups have a black and white striped design, which represents piano keys. For the cold drink cups, we designed a secondary mark in the center of which we placed the highlighted icon.
